Ever fancied seeing your favourite band live in the midst of a beautiful agricultural landscape? Say goodbye to the bland, muddy fields and say hello to Forest Live – a series of gigs that take place in some of England’s best and most loved forests.
Forest Live takes place across June and July every Summer, with an eclectic mix of acts perform in seven spectacular forest locations across the country. Forest Live is an independent programme organised by the Forestry Commission to bring forests to new audiences. Income generated from ticket sales is spent on protecting, improving and expanding England’s forests and woodlands and increasing their value to people and wildlife. Over Forest Live’s 15 year history, a whopping one million music fans have attended the concerts and money raised has contributed to a wide range of projects, from wildlife conservation to making improvements for visitors. A night of incredible live music and saving forests at the same time – what more could you ask for?
Forest Live headline acts for 2016 include: Everyone’s favourite Leeds rockers Kaiser Chiefs, who are set to perform at five out of the seven leafy venues – with newcomers Spring King and The Rainband set to fill the support slots. Following the chart-topping success of their last album “Education, Education, Education, War” back in 2014 and there are now talks of a 6th album in the pipelines, so come June there may be some new tunes to sing along to in the forests.
Drum and bass quartet Rudimental are also on the line-up, and are set to blow away the forests this summer as they play in Gloucester and Suffolk this June. The chart-toppers, who are best known for their hits such as “Waiting All Night” and “Feel The Love”, had a triumphant summer last year as they headlined some of the biggest festivals across the UK. And it looks like the four-piece started as they meant to carry on, with another huge festival season ahead including Forest Live. Expect lots of energy, and prepare to dance the night away.
Singer-songwriter sensation James Bay will also play at Forest Live, performing at the Staffordshire and Suffolk dates throughout July. The “Hold Back The River” hit maker has been one of the biggest artists of the past couple of years, earning his title of breakthrough artist and Critic’s Choice of 2015. And rightly so – Bay has won over fans and critics alike with his infectious on-stage energy and catchy songs, something that will no doubt go down a treat for the audiences at Forest Live. Don’t miss out!
Forest Live also welcomes Simply Red, UB40, Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott, Guy Garvey and John Newman, completing a stellar line-up for this series of special concerts.
With everything required for a great night out, including full catering and bar facilities, the gigs are renowned for their relaxed atmosphere.
