Win a pair of tickets to Festival Number 6!

Competitions, Latest News

A festival unlike any other, in a place like no other, Festival No.6 is an intimate, bespoke banquet of music, arts and culture, taking place over the weekend of the 1-4 September in the magical village of Portmeirion, Wales, home of the cult TV series The Prisoner.

The carefully curated and eclectic line-up includes Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Hot Chip, Bastille, C Duncan, Django Django, Echo & The Bunnymen, Frances, JP Cooper, Lucy Rose, Oh Wonder, Super Furry Animals, Temples, Broken Social Scene and DJ sets from Andrew Weatherall, Ben UFO, The 2 Bears and Maribou State as well as an arts and culture programme that includes Irvine Welsh, Shaun Ryder, John Cooper Clarke and Catrin Finch plus many more.

Acts will perform across the entire site, by the whimsical Italianate architecture of the village, the historic town hall, piazza, Bristol Colonnade, the picturesque Estuary stage, the atmospheric woods and the promenade along the River Dwyryd.

Constructed between 1925 and 1975 by maverick architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, Portmeirion is a wonderfully bizarre and elaborate interpretation of a Mediterranean villa, nestled in the stunning mountains and forests of North Wales overlooking the expansive estuarial waters of the Irish Sea.

Don’t Miss Out: WIN Justin Bieber Tickets!

Competitions, Latest News

Justin Bieber’s Purpose Tour is coming to the UK and we have a pair of tickets to give away. Whether you’ve always Beliebed or have recently been converted, there’s no question that Justin has made an impressive turnaround in 2015. Yes, the Ellen DeGeneres haircut shows signs that the Canadian star has had a tough few years but his No.1 album ‘Purpose’ has caused widespread Bieber Fever to the point of an epidemic.

Initially a baby-faced, clean-teen pop sensation, Bieber began to rebel against this image and clashed with police, paperazzi and even his own fans. Under the media’s ever-watchful eye, it seemed as though Justin was going to become another child-star-gone-bad, crumbling under the pressure of fame and hitting the self-destruct button on his career.

However, a combination of indisputable chart hits and Bieber’s new found ability to not take himself too seriously (pay attention, Zayn), has seen the 21 year-old dominate 2015. ‘Purpose’ features a host of credible collaborators including Ed Sheeran, Skrillex, Jason ‘Poo Bear’ Boyd and Blood Diamonds. ‘What Do You Mean?’, ‘Sorry’ and ‘Love Yourself’ gave Justin 3 consecutive UK No.1’s and the singles currently sit at numbers 1, 2 and 3 respectively. There’s a sophistication to the cold minimalism of ‘Purpose’ and a self-awareness that alluded the Disney-style pop with which Bieber began his career and its made him a whole lot more popular.

He faced a Comedy Central Roast in March, can be seen singing along to his own hits with James Corden here and here, as well as popping up on the comedy carousel of Vine. These flashes of personality at least distances the singer from his unappealing past and paved the way for ‘Purpose’.

It can’t be easy to make the transition from teen-star to serious artist and you can’t do it alone. Miley Cyrus is having a tougher time of it, but Bieber has obviously accomplished the leap and shaken off the bratty middle stage.  The mega-star continues to break chart records, going from strength to strength as a maturing, genre-infusing chart-topper.
