Tom Jones announced for Forest Live 2017!

Latest News, UK

Tom Jones has announced dates as part of Forest Live, the summer concert series organised by the Forestry Commission where acts perform in spectacular woodland locations across the country.

Tom Jones has sustained his popularity as a live performer and recording artist in a remarkable career spanning over five decades. Jones has a keen interest in a wide range of music; although well known for hits including ‘It’s Not Unusual’, ‘Kiss’, ‘Delilah’, ‘What’s New Pussycat’, ‘I’ll Never Fall In Love Again’ and ‘If I Only Knew’, he is first and foremost an artist with a true rhythm and blues soul. He has remained a major recording artist, with albums such as 1999’s ‘Reload’, the biggest selling (5m) of his then 35-year career. More recently Tom released the critically acclaimed albums ‘Spirit In The Room’ and ‘Praise & Blame’. In collaboration with producer / guitarist, Ethan Jones, the albums allow an unvarnished Tom to bring a voice to songs that only he can. Tom was knighted by Her Majesty The Queen in 2006 and other highlights of his long career include receiving BRIT Awards for Best Male and Outstanding Contribution to Music, a Silver Clef Award for Lifetime Achievement and the prestigious Music Industry Trust Award.

In the latter part of 2015, Tom released his first ever autobiography entitled ‘Over The Top And Back’ and the book’s companion soundtrack entitled ‘Long Lost Suitcase’, which were extremely well received internationally. This year sees Tom back on our screens, where he has resumed his coaching role on ‘The Voice UK’ alongside fellow coaches Will.I.Am, Jennifer Hudson and Gavin Rossdale.

Sir Tom Jones is indeed a living legend, one of the few musical artists whose profession began at the dawn of modern popular music and who continues to have a vital recording and performing career to this day. His irresistible show traverses musical eras and genres, cutting across class divides and appealing to all ages, male and female, mainstream and cutting edge.

Forest Live is an independent programme organised by the Forestry Commission to bring forests to new audiences. Income generated from ticket sales is spent on protecting, improving and expanding England’s forests and woodlands and increasing their value to people and wildlife. Over Forest Live’s 16 year history, money raised has contributed to a wide range of projects, from wildlife conservation to making improvements for visitors. With everything required for a great night out, including full catering and bar facilities, the gigs are renowned for their relaxed atmosphere.

Commenting on the dates Tom Jones said “I had a great time being part of the Forest Live concerts last year, so I am delighted to be coming back again and performing in three more of these beautiful woodland locations. It’s important that people are aware of our forests and come to enjoy them, so I hope you can join me!”

Latest News, UK

The UK’s premier festival for unearthing the best new talent, Dot To Dot Festival, returns to Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham from the 26th-28th May for its 12th edition. After smashing record attendance, and marking a sell-out Manchester event in 2016, more of the same is expected for 2017, with a huge line- up of established performers and emerging artists from around the world.

With many exciting announcements to follow, Dot To Dot, are ecstatic to announce the first wave of artists to play this year’s festival:
Euphoric guitar rock supremoes SUNDARA KARMA will return to the Dot To Dot stage, this time as festival headliners! Joining them will be more Dot To Dot legends, in the form of Nottingham’s own AMBER RUN. Their scintillating second album just dropped after a year in the studio, and we couldn’t be happier for their return. After a memorable performance in 2015, high octane Scottish duo HONEYBLOOD, have also been confirmed to return. With their blend of Americana influenced, emo-tinged indie rock PINEGROVE are crossing the Atlantic for this year’s Dot To Dot. “Each place opens up all of their best venues to embrace these soon-to-be-huge acts and we all get to
boast that we saw them up close before they were huge. The only real worries are the inevitable
agonising clashes and where to begin.” Virtual Festivals

Liverpool Sound City 10th Anniversary Headliners Announced

Latest News, UK

The blue touch paper has been lit for the party of the decade – the 10th anniversary of the award-winning Sound City – the UK’s largest city based festival.

Having already announced a move to the larger Clarence Dock for 2017, Sound City has also revealed that it will host four days of festivities to mark its special birthday.

The festival launches on Thursday with a celebration of the English avant-garde featuring a trio of some of the most influential British electronic artists of the modern era – The Human League, Art of Noise and A Certain Ratio.

With a remarkable career that spans five decades, The Human League were the vanguard of the electronic new wave in the 70’s developing a sound that changed the face of pop forever.

Said Phil Oakey: “We’re absolutely delighted to be headlining the first night of Sound City’s 10th birthday celebrations. We love playing for the people of Liverpool, they are properly passionate music fans and we’ve always felt at home in their beautiful city and although we haven’t been there yet from what we’ve heard the setting of Sound City’s iconic industrial landscape is pretty unique and will be a perfect backdrop for our music, we can’t wait to play there.”

Support comes from 80’s synthpop innovators Art of Noise featuring Dudley/Jeczalik/Lanagan. They will reboot their classic album In Visible Silence. This will be a world premiere reworking of this groundbreaking album and their first live performance in 17 years.

To complete this Thursday stellar line up are A Certain Ratio. Discovered by the late great Tony Wilson and signed to Factory Records with label mates Joy Division. Hugely important and influential band. ACR continue to innovate to this day.

On Friday global music legend John Cale takes the stage with the only European performance of THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO album. However Sound City have announced there are a limited number of additional tickets to be released. It will explore his formation of the Velvet Underground with lifelong collaborator Lou Reed. This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear the most amazing story in rock and roll from one of the most important figures from the history of popular music.

Indie rockers The Kooks are the perfect finale for this momentous weekend. Having closed the festival in 2014 The Kooks provide a knowing nod to the rich history of Sound City. In support are post-punk trio White Lies, American indie-innovators Local Natives, dance-punk agitators !!! (Chk Chk Chk), newly reformed Milburn, dreamy psych-popsters She Drew The Gun, anarcho-rockers Cabbage, The Sherlocks, Liverpool’s very own psychedelic adventurers The Vryll Society and a host of other diverse and exciting acts.

Said Sound City CEO Dave Pichilingi: “For our big tenth birthday we wanted to do something really special, not just to mark to occasion but also to reward all those loyal Sound Citizens who have come with us on every step of this amazing ten-year journey.

“The term legend is way over-used these days but we really do have bona fide music legends on the bill every single day of the festival and we still have lots more to announce. It’s going to be a rollercoaster ride folks. Get yourself strapped in.”
