THE GIG PIC GUIDE #2: This weeks must see artists and shows

It looks like generally a quiet week for the bigger arenas and venues across the UK, but we think it’s all the more reason to discover fresh new talent. And who knows, you may even find your new favourite artist. Here is Gig Pic’s Guide on who’s worth looking out for this week.

No one can resist a good throw back in the world of music, even in the form of old school rockers Wheatus. Famed for ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ back in 2000, they have since made a comeback – even working with One Direction’s live band members Josh Devine and Sandy Beales and McBusted’s James Bourne. There has never been a better time to catch their heavy guitar riffs and squeaky pop-rock voices. The band play at a variety of venues across the UK, starting in Manchester tonight. Tickets are available from here.

The transition from actor to artist can be tricky sometimes; but despite the negativity, Game Of Thrones star Jacob Anderson – better known as Raleigh Ritchie, has taken the R&B music industry by storm. He’s supported some of the biggest names and has had a successful run of UK festivals over the summer, but this autumn he’s taking the stage for his own tour. With strong stage presence and thought provoking lyrics, he’s as good live as he is on record and not to be missed as he visits Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham. Tickets can be found here.

Dubbed as ‘the ones to watch’ by XFM at the end of last year, London lads Eliza And The Bear are already proving themselves with a strong fan base and a high amount of listens on Spotify. After hiding away and rehearsing as much as they could, they have perfected harmonies and an upbeat folk-indie-pop feel to their songs. Their most memorable numbers such as ‘Talk’, ‘Let Us Be Young’ and ‘Light It Up’ are definitely not worth missing, so grab a ticket to see them on their UK tour before they hit it big. Tickets are available from here.

Kimberly Anne describes her sound as ‘acoustic pop married to indie, whilst having a love affair with afro Caribbean and Brazilian rhythms.’ It may sound slightly whacky, but she’s been signed by Polydor Records, and has already had one of her covers turned into a massive house track supported by the likes of BBC Radio 1. Her stripped back voice and acoustic vibes make her songs make her one of a kind – making her one to watch in the upcoming months. Indie lovers Communion Music present her at intimate venues in Manchester, Glasgow and London in the next week, and you can get tickets from here.

Their record ‘Parking Lot’ has just been named as Hottest Record In The World by Annie Mac, so band Vant must be something to shout about right now. They may be new, but they already seem to be causing quite a stir in the music industry which had labels fighting over them. Despite being signed by Parlophone Records, they have released music off of their own label, citing that they wanted to keep creative control. Now they embark on a joint tour with DIY Magazine, kicking off in Nottingham from tomorrow night, up to the middle of October where they finish off in London. Don’t miss out on the chance to see one of the hottest up and coming bands, and grab your tickets here.
