Winter is slowly sneaking in, which can only mean one thing… More tours and more gigs! Many artists are on the road after festival season has come to a close, and there is no better time to go and see them live in the act. Here is this weeks Gig Pic guide on who we think is worthy of watching.
They’ve won the hearts of many teenage girls since their rise in 2012, and there’s a good chance their fan base will expand as they get ready to release their second studio album ‘Wake Up’ at the end of November. The self-made YouTube stars; James, Brad, Connor and Tristan – shot to fame after uploading videos, which eventually gained the attention of various record labels. And they’ve come a long way since then – with many Top 5 hits under their belts, they’re now embarking on a nationwide tour. They’ve been around for a long time, being dubbed as one of the worlds biggest bands and racking up plenty of number one albums over the last thirty years. And even in 2015, Irish quartet U2 have proved that they’re still as big as ever. Despite the slight PR disaster last year which saw their album Songs Of Innocence plummeted unknowingly into the public’s iTunes libraries, they’re still out to show fans that their latest tour in a complete triumph. They’ve just about finished their tour across Europe, and they start in London on Sunday night and end in Ireland after selling out multiple times. You can grab a ticket from here.
She’s out to prove why the UK need a female rap star – and she’s doing a pretty good job so far. Birmingham girl Melesha O’Garro – who is better known as her stage name Lady Leshurr, looks up to the Grime and Hip-Hop greats such as Ms Dynamite and Missy Elliot. And she has made quite the impact in recent years after knocking Justin Timberlake off the top spot of the MTV Base chart with her new tune Blazin’ back in 2013. And armed with her new compilation of tunes titled “Queen’s Speech”, she embarks on a tour across the UK this month. She visits Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham, and you can get tickets from here.
FRASER A GORMAN
Hailing from Torquay in Australia, singer-songwriter Fraser A Gorman’s curls and charm are enough to win anyone over. His sound revolves around the idea of the genre Americana. Folk, rock, blues, country and R&B – his debut album Slow Gum rolls all of these into one. And even he admits that “country music to me sounds like rock ‘n’ roll.” With a little guitar, harmonica, deep sounds of organ chords and his simple lyrics – Gorman is one not to be missed whilst he tours across the UK. Described as a mix between Foals and The 1975 – Indie Rock band Coasts have made their mark on the music industry since forming back in 2011. After lots of recognition from overseas, their tracks played on Made in Chelsea and Zane Lowe recognising one of their hit tracks A Rush Of Blood as one of the hottest records at the end of last year. They were eventually signed in both the UK and the US, and have carried on with their success ever since. They’ve also just released their debut album, which they are currently touring across the UK and are still to play across the south of England.
