SONDER Festivals creation came as a meeting of minds between a creative industry network event organiser – Kelvin Leigh, an independent music label owner – Joe Maguire and an urban musician – Gav Pettifor. The idea was simple, to create an inclusive, affordable introducing festival to showcase amazing music and comedy from across the UK.
Last November SONDER hosted its very first event as an introduction to this years full festival which saw the likes of Aziz Ibrahim and ex Catfish and the Bottlemen Billy Bibby headlining the festival.
This year sees SONDER boasting an incredible line up which features a headline performances at The Ruby Lounge on Sunday by The Lottery Winners who last year were signed to Warner Brothers Sire Records by the legendary Seymour Stein who discovered The Smiths, The Ramones and Madonna. The festival also boasts headline performances at The Ruby lounge from Manchester favourites Prose who are highly tipped as a Mancunian break through act. Urban act Kapital will also be performing on Friday at The Ruby Lounge and will be donating all his fees from SONDER to help build a school in Bugalandi, Kenya.
Across our other music venues Aatma, Gullivers, The Castle, Soup Kitchen and The Whiskey Jar we have a plethora of amazing artists gracing the stage. These include London based Nu-punk act Louise Distras, Manchester’s Post Punk act Syd.31 and London based Hard Rock band In Search of Sun who will all be performing headline slots at Aatma across the weekend.
Our comedy stage at new venue Jimmys boast a great mix of music and comedy which will see the likes of Freestyle Fiction, Comedy Sportz and a headline performance from the incredible Nathan Caton (Live at the Apollo, Mock the week, Russell Howards Good News).
